Your Story Part II

Your Story Part II

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our second installment of our "SnapChat" Series in which we take a popular Bible story and view it from a different perspective. In this session we chose the story of Daniel and the lion's den. Most of us know the story of a faithful Daniel and how he was set up by his enemies to be put to death for their own personal gain. Yes, its a great story and usually Daniel is starring in the lead role as we are encouraged to have the same trust in God as he did. But there is another person in a story that we often overlook: his friend King Darius.

King Darius was put in a very uncomfortable predicament as he was forced to throw his beloved friend into the lions den even though he didn't want to. As history shows us Darius not only bowed down to other pagan gods but he at times was worshipped as a God as well. Yes, a king and god yet powerless to save his friend from receiving a death penalty he didn't deserve. In this moment we start to see one of the greatest conversions in the Bible. In a move of desperation Darius takes it upon himself to pray and put his trust in the one true God in hope or his friend's life being spared.

I'm sure Darius and Daniel had plenty of talks about the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob but because of this situation Darius finally takes the leap of faith of putting his trust in God (even if it is skeptical). As the story concludes King Darius prayers are answered and Daniel is alive and unscathed the next day and is released from the Lions den. This miracle proves God's power and faithfulness to King Darius and he makes a decree to his Kingdom exclaiming the greatness of God. We are encouraged as believers to not give up when we are going through trails and tribulations. Sometimes unknowing to us there are friends, family, and strangers watching and praying for us when adversities rise. When God delivers us it doesn't just change our lives for the better it changes theirs as well.

God is trusting us to hold on and to trust Him in the mist of whatever we are going through. He wants to use our story to show his glory to others who might be going through similar situations. YES, GOD IS TRUSTING YOU. How amazing is that !? When opposition we have no control over is rising up against us we are inspired to view it as an opportunity to be trustworthy of God's faithfulness. He wants us to keep our faith strong for ourselves and for those who are watching. Don't give up. You don't know who's faith is depending on it.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
— Isaiah 43:2-3
